Hofer aims to expand from 450 to 500 shops

In particular, Hofer sees growth opportunities in urban area, in the Vienna metropolitan region but also in Linz and Wels. Moreover, Aldi's entry into the Italian market is to be coordinated from Austria. The company has already established a team for this project.

Hofer has created 160 state-of-the-art workplaces, mainly in IT and process management, in a new office building recently opened at corporate headquarters in Sattledt. The company's expansion is part of an investment drive launched by Hofer, with total investments of EUR 162 million in Austria. In 2014 alone, the number of employees climbed 14% to over 9,000 people. In 2015 some 500 new employees will be hired throughout the country. Hofer has a market share of 26%.
