The strategic realignment of the Bekum Group in Germany and Austria has been concluded. The Berlin-based machine producer has transferred production with machine assembly, purchasing, production planning and storage to Traismauer, Lower Austria, 60 kilometers from Vienna, investing EUR 5 million in the expansion of the Austrian facility. These steps were taken with the objective of bundling the company’s European production of extrusion blow-molding machines at one site. 40 new jobs were created within the context of the expansion program.
Up until now the plant in Traismauer only manufactured industrial blow molding machines, and starting now also smaller packaging machinery.
According to Managing Director Andreas Kandt, business is going well at the present time. The company succeeded in attracting new contract orders in Eastern Europe and the Middle East for the mostly small and medium-sized machines for the packaging industry.
