This is demonstrated by the new record level of employment in July (a rise of 2.3 percent year on year) and the decline in unemployment, down eight percent from the previous year. Accordingly, the unemployment rate in line with the national definition was at 6.9 percent (a drop of 0.7 percent), and at 4.7 percent (down 0.7%, data for June) in accordance with international statistical methods in line with EUROSTAT. These positive developments on the labor market are mainly due to measures taken by the Austrian government to reduce unemployment as well as to enhance the attractiveness of Austria as a business location.
