The headquarters of the cargo airline are located at Vienna Airport. In the future, it will operate European cargo flights with eighteen Boeing 757 aircraft and 176 pilots. The employees at Vienna Airport will manage the airline's daily operations, from crew scheduling and flight planning to crew training. For this purpose, DHL Air Austria is creating around 54 new jobs at Vienna Airport.
The founding of DHL Air Austria represents an important milestone in the history of DHL Express in Austria, which dates back 41 years. After reviewing several options in different European countries, Austria asserted itself as the optimal business location. In addition to a stable political and economic environment and an outstanding global reputation of its national aviation authorities, the site also offers optimal geographical conditions.
All procedures required to launch operations of the new cargo line were completed in just nine months. At present three of the 18 Boeing aircraft are already registered in Austria. The transfer of the other 15 Boeing 757 jets to DHL Air Austria is expected to be concluded in the first quarter of 2022.
