New Life Sciences Center for Vienna with AITHYRA
09. February 2026With an investment volume of € 170 million, new research and innovation space is being created for companies, start-ups and institutions in biomedicine, technology and AI. The AITHYRA Institute will also relocate there, sending a strong signal for Austria’s growing life sciences research and business location.
The new Life Science Center Vienna is a flagship future-focused project that will bring research, AI and biomedicine together across 14,000 m². With investment of around € 170 million, the City of Vienna is creating an innovation hub in Neu Marx, offering state-of-the-art infrastructure for companies, start-ups and international players. It is a strong signal that further strengthens Austria’s position in global competition.
The first major tenant will be AITHYRAAITHYRA (), the AI institute established by the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation. It will occupy around 7,000 m²—half of the newly created space. AITHYRA combines cutting-edge AI research with life sciences expertise, making it the centrepiece of the new campus. Funding by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation also underlines the project’s international dimension.
The new campuscampus () will reinforce Vienna’s and Austria’s standing as a leading life sciences location. Embedded in an ecosystem of research institutions, more than 40 companies and a growing AI community, it will create an exceptional environment for top-level research. Here, innovation will be accelerated, talent will be attracted, and collaboration between industry and academia will be strengthened—offering a clear advantage for international companies in Austria.
