BMW invests € 1 billion in Austria

Today more than one million engines and ten million core engine components already leave the assembly lines of the Austrian BMW plant in Steyr, Upper Austria each year. The electric drive technology will play an even bigger role at the facility in the future.

Starting in 2025, the next generation of e-drives of the BMW Group will be produced here. By 2025, more than 600,000 e-powered engines will be manufactured. The company plans to invest € 1 billion by 2030 so that electric engines can also be assembled in Steyr in the future. BMW has already been operating in Austria for 40 years through its subsidiary BMW Motoren GmbH in Steyr. About 4,400 employees are involved in production and development work. The development location of Steyr is also treading new paths. At present, it is developing a completely new high-performance e-drive.
