Austrian pavilion is popular at this year’s World’s Fair

The World’s Fair is being held in Milan from May 1 – October 31, 2015. The general issue being dealt with by EXPO 2015 is “FEEDING THE PLANET. ENERGY FOR LIFE“. With breathe.austria, Austria is making a pointed contribution to the guiding topic of “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” at Expo Milano 2015. breathe.austria is putting food as the number one issue and the most important resource at the center of international attention: air. Architecture, nature, culture and research fuse to form a sensual experience. The Austrian pavilion in Milan links buildings and the environment to ensure an integrated presentation. The generous planting of a piece of woodland with an area of 560 m² makes breathe.austria a multifaceted network of relations between people, the environment and the climate.

Austria as a Trailblazer for the Circular Economy

For years the idea of the circular economy embodies the vision of an economy with controllable resource consumption. Pioneer work was carried out, for example, by the European Union with its “Circular Economy Package”. This creates the foundation for enabling (secondary) raw materials to remain in the economic cycle as long and efficiently as possible. This can be done if attention is paid to economical raw material use, durability and repairability and reusability at the beginning of the value chain, and that the materials can be optimally collected, sorted and recycled after their use.
