"Within the context of an investment decision, we took a close look at various international options, also the research environment at potential sites. The decision in favor of Vienna ended up concluding that the market supply of biopharmaceutical products is secured by another independent site, and risk balancing can be carried out”, said Andreas Barner, CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim.

Boehringer Ingelheim manufactures pharmaceutical agents in Vienna using microorganisms. In addition, cell culture technology will also be transferred there over the next few years.
