Vienna remains at the top of the ranking in terms of quality of life. In 2016 Vienna once again led the “Quality of Living” ranking of the consulting company Mercer. Vienna is followed by Zurich, Auckland, Munich and Vancouver. The Iraqi capital city of Bagdad is rated last on the list. The Mercer study is carried out once annually. It offers a comparison of living conditions of expatriates in a total of 230 large cities. 39 criteria are analyzed in evaluating each city, which employees sent there from abroad believe play a key role.
Numerous aspects considered
The study considers political, social, economic and environmental aspects. According to Mercer, factors such as health, education, public transport and other public services are also taken into account. For the first time, the criteria “personal safety” was also examined for the current analysis.
