Blockchain involves a new type of data storage. Simply speaking, it means that data is not only stored on a server, but distributed over a large number of computers and secured via cryptographic processes. Blockchain enables real peer-to-peer transactions without “intermediaries”. The start-ups Minebox and Grid Singularity are among the Austrian pioneers.
“Blockchain Austria” was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy, and has partners such as Blockchainhub Graz or the research facility SBA Research.
