As in all other cities, there will be a local ofo support team in Vienna, who will manage bicycle distribution and maintenance. The team uses an intelligent transport analytical system to determine real-time traffic patterns and usage demands and distribute the bikes to where they are needed the most.
To rent a bike, users must install the free ofo app (available on iOS and Android). After successful registration, the app shows the nearest available bikes using GPS, which can be unlocked with a code sent to the user’s smartphone after scanning the QR code on the bike. If the bike is no longer needed, it can be easily parked anywhere that is legally permitted. Users who park their bikes in an ofo recommended parking zone or operating area will receive bonus points. Points will be deducted from riders who park their bikes inappropriately.
During the month-long pilot phase, ofo's service can be used for free. After that, the service will cost € 0.50 per 30 minutes, with no deposit needed. Payment can be made by credit card.
