The aviation specialist FACC based in Upper Austria will supply overhead stowage compartments and ceiling panels to equip the Airbus cabins. Series production is planned to begin at the end of 2018.
The new, larger stowage bins will be deployed by the Airbus A320 starting in the year 2019. The order level at present of the Airbus A320 is about 5,000 aircraft. Theoretically, older planes may also be upgraded with the XL bins. Currently more than 7,300 A320 aircraft are in operation worldwide.
“In addition to a high level of comfort and sufficient space, the most important aspects of a passenger cabin are low weight, convenient handling, low operating costs and high reliability”, said Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC AG.
