
Close to EUR 400 million was invested in 2017 in what BMW calls its most modern European engine factory. There engines are developed, planned and assembled, which are used, for example, in the BMW 5 Series manufactured by Magna Steyr for the global market.
An expansion of the facility in Salzburg is planned, and new corporate headquarters will be built at a cost of more than EUR 20 million. The site will coordinate sales and distribution for twelve countries in Central and South East Europe. According to BMW Austria Managing Director Morawa, the company has the largest workforce in its history. Another 170 people are to be hired by March 2018. On balance, the automobile producer employs more than 5,200 people in Austria.
