How can logistics and transport robots moving in the environment of people, machinery and plants be equipped and programmed to function securely and safely? In this case IT security plays a decisive role. “When a robot is out of control because it was hacked, this can have serious consequences”, explains Walter Wölfel from the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien. People must also learn how to deal with robots. “For example, a renowned cable producer removed the control platform from its autonomously driving forklift trucks to prevent employees from jumping on the vehicle”, Wölfel adds. The mobile robot is being tested in the digital factory.
