Start-up opens plant for satellite propulsion in Wiener Neustadt

Investor Alon Shklarek, founder Alexander Riessner and Team © enpulsion

At present, the production volume amounts to one ion engine per day, which is planned to expand to 500 such thrusters annually. The price of the thruster is competitive at EUR 30,000 per unit. The technology was developed by FOTEC, the research company of the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt. The modular approach for the thrusters is unique in the world, and a less expensive solution in the central challenge for all prominent satellite producers in building satellites”, says CEO Alexander Riessner. Enpulsion is being provided with financial support by the EU program “Horizon 2020”, as well as by seed financing of aws austria wirtschaftsservice and the Viennese investor Alon Shklarek via his company ASP. Last year Enpulsion acquired EUR 2.4 million in this manner. About EUR 600,000 is to be invested in production in the beginning.

Austria on track to implement the mobility of the future

Recently the first autonomous or self-driving bus was put into operation in Vienna, and the first autonomous air taxi in Austria should be ready for series production by 2020. It seems that the mobility of the future has long begun in the Alpine Republic. This is, last but not least, evidence of the ideal conditions which innovative companies benefit from here.
