Hektar Nektar: Funding for bee start-up

Mark and Martin Poreda © Schedl/Hektar Nektar

About 400 bee colonies have already changed owners via an online marketplace. 280 beekeepers have found new bees to take care in just a few months. In order to promote beekeepers, companies should sponsor the purchase costs for beehives, bees and equipment, and advertise on Hektar Nektar with this sustainable commitment. Moreover, the company logo can be put on the harvested honey and used as a present for partners and customers. The founders, namely the brothers Mark and Martin Poreda, have now received six-figure euro funding for their project from aws Austria Wirtschaftsservice. It is the second injection of fresh capital in a short time. In June, Deutsche Bauernverlag, a specialist agricultural publishing house, acquired a 25% stake in Hekar Nektar, also investing a six-figure euro sum.
