New law to facilitate research planning

In addition, the expiring research strategy should be complemented by a new strategy to last until the year 2030. “We are resolutely committed to top-notch research in Austria, underscoring the transformation of the country into a land of research”, says Minister of Education Heinz Faßmann. The law should specify those institutions of relevance to research throughout Austria on the basis of clearly defined criteria. These facilities will then receive strategic guidelines and corresponding financing for three to four years within the context of research, technology and innovation pact (RTI pact, in German: FTI pact).
