Expansion of competence center for electrochemical surface technology

Forscher bei der Arbeit © CEST

As a COMET center, it works on projects funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG, but also offers contract research and services such as surface analytics. It serves as an important catalyst at the interface between science and industry. In the future, the focus will be on research projects in the field of functional surfaces, corrosion protection and corrosion testing as well as the testing of adhesive bonding.

According to CEST, there is an extensive need for research on new adhesive bonds, which CEST is responding to by opening up a new adhesive testing laboratory. CEST is also particularly focusing on the automotive sector by operating its own laboratory for cataphoretic immersion priming. The research findings of CEST are also applied in the fields of antibacterial coating of dental implants, aircraft components, specially coating sheeting for the automobile industry, computer tomography and concrete guide rails.

The new research allowance in Germany – in competition with the Austrian research tax credit?

Companies carrying out research and development in Austria have the possibility to apply for research funding, namely the so-called research tax credit. In an international comparison, the Austrian research tax credit is a recipe for success and is designed to showcase and enhance the attractiveness of Austria as a research location. The successive increase in the research tax credit from the original level of three percent in 2002 to 14 percent at present has made a massive contribution to this success.
