Founded in 2008, the Salzburg-based start-up has developed an intelligent search, personalization and navigation solution for e-commerce to optimize online shops. Findologic works with personalized search results based on previous user behavior. According to the company, Findologic is used by more than 1,000 web shops in 23 countries across the globe. Its customers include Edeka, Expert, Penny, Libro, Carrera and Adler.
Now the company, which is a spin-off of the University of Salzburg, has been given a capital injection in the mid-single-digit million euro range from the private equity firm BE Beteiligungen of Cologne. The capital raised will serve to expand Findologic’s own platform. Search requests per voice and virtual reality expansions are on the agenda. The Bavarian-born founder Matthias Heimbeck initially developed a machine learning software for cancer research. He deployed the software for online shops in the second phase.
