The Styrian machinery and plant manufacturer Andritz AG will build a wood processing plant for existing paper machines in the Russian region of Nizhnij Novgorod. The expanded capacity is designed to enable the Russian company JSC Volga (Volga AG) to increase the production of newsprint. The existing groundwood reject line will be converted to a TMP (thermo-mechanical pulping) line.
The project also involves the modernization of the existing screening and low-consistency refining system as well as the complete automation and electrification of a process control system. Planning, training, consulting on assembly, commissioning and start-up are also encompassed in the scope of services to be provided. JSC Volga is one of the largest Russian newsprint producers. The company is one of the top 200 exporting companies in Russia, also ranking among the top 50 companies in the Russian forestry industry and the top 100 companies in the Nizhnij Novgorod Region.
