
This will create a testing laboratory and research centre for testing various applications, products and processes. The key focus areas at the time of the launch of the testing laboratory will be on virtual realities, swarm intelligence in deploying drones, smart city applications and wireless industrial robotics. The new mobile telephony standard will be made available to Carinthian companies as well as educational and research institutions on the campus to serve as the basis for developing the technologies and applications of tomorrow. The fifth mobile telephony generation is characterized by top data rates of up to 10 gigabytes per second, extremely short latency times (delay) and a high level of energy efficiency. It is considered to be a key technology within the context of Austria’s digitization drive.
In the initial step, the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology as well as the Federal Province of Carinthia are funding the project to the amount of EUR 1.6 million. BABEG is a company owned by the Republic of Austria and the Federal Province of Carinthia, which is designed to promote projects in the fields of research, technology, innovation and technical infrastructure in Carinthia.
