Nevertheless, the management responsible for Austria's most important inland harbour have taken safety precautions to enable the port to remain fully operational.
The top priority is to protect employees, customers and business partners from being infected with the coronavirus. Whenever possible, two teams will be deployed simultaneously on the basis of shift work so that they will not meet one another. All back office activities will be carried out at the employees' home offices at the present time, to the extent that this is possible and appropriate. Employees working on site are encouraged to keep a minimum distance of one metre from other people. Employees in the company are kept apart if this is not possible at all. Moreover, the Port of Vienna is trying to avoid direct, unprotected contact with customers in order to protect them from possible infection.
