Accordingly, demand for medically necessary products used to protect healthcare professionals is also increasing. Up until now, no Austrian companies have been capable of manufacturing a protective mask offering sufficient protection for people working in health professions. For this reason, Austria had to purchase respirators used in its healthcare system from other countries. A consortium of six companies in Vorarlberg will now produce up to 500,000 urgently needed face masks each day for health workers.
"It is impressive to see how versatile and innovative our companies are - and that they can further develop, join forces and work on behalf of the population, even in times of crisis. I am pleased that they have now succeeded in manufacturing protective face masks of the 'Made in Austria' brand", said Margarete Schramböck, Federal Minister of Digital and Economic Affairs, at the presentation of the Austrian-made protective masks.
