Where can one travel to and under what conditions? Which quarantine rules exist, and which admission restrictions apply for which country? In the light of ongoing updates, this information is difficult to find in the current situation for people willing to travel. In this case, assistance is provided by tootravel, developed by DPE Gmbh, a spin-off of the largest Russian travel platform tutu.ru, which recently took its first step in expanding to the Austrian market. People fond of travelling can immediately see in the so-called "Radar" which airports are operating at full capacity, where flights were headed in previous days and how current safety standards are in the respective countries. As a first step, users receive free information about the current situation. "We will quickly expand the offering to railway and bus routes, and gradually build up an online travel agency (OTA) as we did in Russia2, says Andreas Lettl, Managing Director of the Austrian company DPE GmbH.
After reviewing various business locations, Austria turned out to be the best place for the Russian company to expand. As Russia's largest travel portal and one of the top 15 worldwide, tutu.ru has already planned its expansion since 2018. According to Andrea Lettl, Austria was ultimately chosen due to its location in the heart of Europe and links to the most important markets, a well-developed infrastructure in all areas, the high level of legal certainty and a favourable tax framework. "This is complemented by the fact that one can rely on qualified employees in Austria", Lettl adds.
