A second fully automated warehouse with a capacity of about 9,000 pallets will arise after about one year of construction. "Our factories in Vienna and Feldbach have succeeded in increasing sales volumes year after year, so that the existing warehouse are simply too small", explains Markus Marek, Managing Director of Kelly. The new storage facility will be 110.5 metres long, 19.2 metres wide and 32.5 metres high, and will be constructed directly adjacent to the current warehouse.
In past years external storage space was leased in order to compensate for bottlenecks. "In the future we will be able to store all our products and carry out order picking directly at our facility. This enhances the efficiency and quality of the logistics process. Moreover, the new building will have a major impact on our sustainability agenda. In this way, we will avoid 4,000 lorry trips to the reserve warehouses", says Thomas Buck, Managing Director Operations.
"Similar to the existing warehouse, the new one will be constructed by SSI Schäfer", adds Christian Fitze, Logistics Director and authorised signatory at Kelly. "In turn, this will generate synergies in control systems and materials handling, ensuring the smooth interaction of the old and the new warehouse."
