The core element of the facility, namely a snygas generator built by SMS group, will also be set up at the location of a special waste incineration plant in Vienna. The technology enables a so-called synthesis gas to be produced on the basis of a thermal transformation process from waste. In turn, this hydrogen-rich gas mixture can be processed into different types of energy carriers such as environmentally compatible (green) fuels, green gas and green hydrogen.
The SMS group is a group of companies internationally active in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the steel and nonferrous metals industry. It has some 14,000 employees who generate worldwide sales of more than € 2.9 billion. The partners on board the new project "Waste2Value" are BEST, Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies, Wien Energie, Heinzel Paper, the Viennese public transport company Wiener Linien, the Viennese utility company Wiener Netze and the Austrian Forest Authority. The Vienna University of Technology and the Luleå University of Technology are the scientific partners for the project.
