The Series B funding round led by Peter Thiel's venture capital company Valar Ventures raised $170 million (or about € 142 million). According to TechCrunch, the valuation of the company is now $1.2 billion. Valar already headed the Series A round in September and raised $52 million. Partners from the investment firm DST Global also took part in the recent round of financing.
The goal of Bitpanda is to become the preeminent investment platform for everyone in Europe. Soon it will also be possible to make investments in (fractional) shares and exchange traded funds (ETF). The company previously launched its Bitpanda Visa Debit Card on the market. The card is directly linked to the Bitpanda wallets of the users. Bitpanda has already been offering trade in the precious metals of gold and silver since May 2019 after initially serving as a crypto broker. Bitpanda says it has two million users.
