Austrian has taken another step towards combatting the shortage of skilled workers by launching the MINT-Girls Challenge. The initiative is designed to arouse enthusiasm on the part of girls and young men for the MINT subjects (mathematics, informatics, natural sciences and technology). These are the areas which have not only become a springboard for better career opportunities, but they also stand for innovative solutions for the challenges facing our society.
Girls and young women throughout Austria can take part in the MINT-Girls Challenge up until 31 August 2021 and contribute their ideas about how to make our society fit for the future. Based on the use of MINT, they can present solutions for one of the sustainability goals of the United Nations (SDGs). Their creative ideas presented in the form of a film, image, text or audio file will be awarded in different categories and published on the project website. Moreover, attractive prizes will be given to three projects in each category.
The MINT-Girls Challenge is a joint Austrian-wide initiative of the Federal Ministry for Women, Family, Youth and Integration, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs and the Federation of Austrian Industries. More information is available at www.mint-girls.at.
