Lockdown turnover compensation ("Ausfallsbonus")

  •  At least 40 percent loss of revenue compared to the same month in 2019

  • Compensation rate: 10 to 40 percent of the sales slowdown, depending on the cost structure of the sector

  • Maximum coverage: EUR 2.3 million (previously EUR 1.8 million)

  •  Time period: November 2021 to March 2022

  • Application: Starting December 16, 2021

Loss compensation ("Verlustersatz")

  • At least 40 percent revenue loss compared to the same month in 2019

  • Compensation rate: 70 to 90 percent of loss

  • Maximum coverage: EUR 12 million (instead of EUR 10 million in the past)

  • Time period: January to March 2022 (extension)

  • Application: Beginning of 2022

Hardship fund ("Härtefallfonds")

  •  Revenue decline of at least 40 percent and running costs can no longer be covered.

  • Compensation rate: 80 percent of the net loss of income, plus EUR 100

  • Maximum amount: EUR 2,000; minimum amount: EUR 600

  • Time period: November 2021 to March 2022


  • Every company receiving financial support must adhere to the COVID regulations, otherwise the money received may have to be repaid.

  • If a company is given an administrative fine due to violations, for example in connection with "2G" inspections, the aid for the respective month must be paid back.


Corona Short-Time Work Scheme ("Corona-Kurzarbeit")

The Corona Short-Time Work Scheme remains in effect until the end of 2021 and covers the lockdown period. All companies and their employees are entitled to receive support in accordance with the Corona Short-Time Work Scheme.

During the lockdown, all companies applying for short-time work have the possibility to reduce working time up to a complete work stoppage. Employees are eligible for compensation of 80 to 90 percent of their net salaries.

Short-time work grants for companies in sectors directly affected by the lockdown:
Companies operating in directly affected sectors which are subject to government-imposed closings are eligible for the entire scope of short-time work support equalling up to 100 percent until December 31, 2021.

Retroactive application:
Retroactive application is possible for companies which start (or extend) short-time work during the lockdown, fourteen days from beginning of the short-time work. The period expires at the end of the 14th day after the start of short-time work.

Economic justification:
Companies only applying for short-time work during the lockdown are not required to confirm the economic justification by tax advisors (etc.).
