Following the launch of the first contact tracing App in Europe, Novid20 ("No Covid 2020") has developed a software infrastructure for mass coronavirus testing which is already being successfully used in nursing homes and Austrian schools. Starting in the spring of 2021, the startup also conducted a pilot project featuring lollipop pooling tests in schools and day care centres in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Thanks to the pooling approach, only one test per class is necessary, which in turn enormously accelerates the overall testing process. The team of Novid20 has digitised almost the entire process of testing with lollipops, from laboratories and reporting results to data management.
The solution offered by Novid20 has been use in all primary and special schools in the German state of Bavaria since September 2021. 50,000 pool samples from about half a million pupils at close to 3,300 school locations are processed each week with the help of the software developed by the startup. Approx. four million coronavirus tests are implemented each month in Bavaria alone using the Web application.
