
The newly founded company Speed Connect Netzwerkserrichtungs GmbH will build regional and local fibre optic networks outside of metropolitan areas in the coming years. In this way, more than half a million buildings should be linked to the network. In the years to come Speed Connect Austria will invest a high three-digit million amount in constructing regional fibre optic networks throughout Austria. The company will operate these fibre optic networks on the basis of an open wholesale model (open access). The infrastructure of all Internet service providers will be made available, and customers will be able to freely select the Internet providers themselves.
