Quick Info

Who is Würth?

Würth specialises in the wholesale trade of assembly and fastening materials for tradespeople and industry. The internationally active Würth Group is headquartered in Germany. Würth Austria was founded in 1962, employs around 1,000 people and operates a nationwide sales and service network.

Why does Austria stand out as a location?

Austria offers stable framework conditions, a central location in Europe and a highly reliable economic environment. For Würth, decisive factors include strong transport links, qualified talent and proximity to key markets.

What is being created at Würth in Austria?

Würth is investing around €20 million to expand its site in Böheimkirchen, deliberately developing it into the central logistics hub for Austria and the CEE region. The focus is on increasing capacity, optimising logistics processes and strengthening delivery capability for existing and new markets.

What role does the Austrian Business Agency (ABA) play?

The Austrian Business Agency supported Würth particularly with the administration of funding, especially in the context of innovative sustainability projects. Through its networking role, it helps companies access relevant contacts and funding instruments.

Michael Hempt CEO Würth Österreich

„For us, the location decision was never only about costs, but about the overall picture. Böheimkirchen stands for established structures, high quality and reliability—and that is exactly what we need to serve our customers in Austria and the CEE region sustainably and at the highest level.“

What makes Austria so attractive for groups like Würth?

Austria offers international companies a reliable environment with a high degree of predictability. The combination of stable framework conditions, strong infrastructure and qualified employees provides the basis for sustainable investment.

For companies with a strong focus on service quality and delivery capability, Austria’s central location in Europe and its excellent connections to neighbouring markets are particularly important. This makes it possible to serve both established markets and high-growth regions efficiently.

Another factor is the high quality of vocational training. Austria has a strong skilled trades sector with internationally recognised training standards, ensuring companies have long-term access to qualified professionals and actively supporting competitiveness.

The labour market is demanding; at the same time, Austria is characterised by a high level of commitment, technical expertise and sense of responsibility. Ultimately, a location does not succeed through KPIs, but through people—and this is exactly where Würth continues to see great potential in Austria.

How is Würth leveraging Austria’s potential for growth?

Würth is consistently developing the Böheimkirchen site further and strengthening its role as a logistics and organisational hub. Alongside the expansion of logistics capacity, the company is investing strategically in digitalisation, for example through new IT systems and data-driven applications to optimise customer processes.

A flagship project is the geothermal system commissioned in 2025. It provides heating and cooling for the buildings and reduces CO₂ emissions by around 300 tonnes per year. Combined with photovoltaics, green electricity and the expansion of e-mobility, this creates an integrated energy system that makes the site more independent and resilient over the long term.

The goal is to further improve efficiency, service quality and customer proximity, while safeguarding the site’s future viability in the long term.
